Terms & Conditions

A 2.5% surcharge applies to credit card payments we accept Visa and Mastercard.


Upon check in a credit card must be provided to cover all charges incurred.  Full payment of booking is required on check in.


Extra charges may be levied for:

  • extra linen

  • lost keys

  • late check outs


Check In/ Check Out

Check In time is from 2pm - 8pm on the day of arrival and check out time is before 10am on the day of departure. 


Please note that bookings made are only valid for the dates as booked and for the number of people indicated. We reserve the right to have periods of minimum stays, and a maximum number of guests in our units.  

Extra person charge of $30pp/pn apply to bookings that exceed 4 persons in our 2bed units.  An extra person charge applies if booking unit F for 3 people.  Sofa pull out beds are available in most units an additional $15 for bed linen & towels.   



Visitors are permitted at the management’s discretion.  Visitor's cars must be parked down the driveway. 


Conduct Policy

The registered guest is responsible for the behaviour of all persons/visitors whilst on the property. No visitors after 10pm.  Noise levels after this time must be kept to an acceptable level to accommodate all residents of the complex. STRICTLY NO PARTIES.  All deliberate or reckless acts that result in damage or loss to our property and any costs associated with inappropriate behaviour resulting in loss of income to the motel, will be charged to the registered guest.


Matakana Motel is a smoke free complex smoking is NOT PERMITTED in the units. Smoking is permitted outside the units only and away from open doors and windows. In order to avoid residual lingering food odours that may be offensive to subsequent guests, cooking of odoriferous pungent foods such as shellfish, strong curries and spices are also NOT PERMITTED in any of our units. Management reserves the right to charge the guest a minimum of one night's accommodation for extra cleaning and loss of revenue if the unit is tainted by smoking or food odours. All recoverable costs will be charged to the guest’s credit card.



Cancellation Terms


We understand that your situation may change and we would appreciate you contacting us as soon as possible should this be the case. Any extension to a booking is subject to availability. Earlier departure than the reserved date may not result in a refund unless management approve and are able to re-let the booked accommodation.

Standard Cancellation Policy 
All cancellations must be made no less than 7 days prior to arrival or the total cost of the booking will be charged to the guest's credit card.

Peak Season Cancellation Policy
All cancellations must be made no less than 14 days prior to arrival for dates:
Christmas / New Year 21st Dec to 31st Jan 
Easter Weekend Good Friday - Easter Monday
or the total cost of the booking will be charged to the guests's credit card. 


Group bookings

When booking multiple units a 30% deposit is required on confirmation of your booking. The deposit is non refundable 2 months prior to booking date.

Covid-19 Policy
Cancellation due to Covid lockdown (Alert level 3 or 4)
If there is a lockdown and you are unable to travel because of it we will try and re-book you on another date and no cancellation fee applies.  If you are unable to re-book we will cancel your booking.
Alert level 1 & 2 our normal cancellation policy applies.
